How We Research Window Costs

Every cost table on TheWindowCo names its source. We use:

  • This Old House’s 2026 window replacement cost survey for national averages by material, style and glass, and their egress window guide (updated June 2026).
  • Fixr.com cost guides for ranges by window type, brand, labor and basement windows.
  • Inch Calculator for average prices, labor and glass-only replacement.
  • Manufacturer guidance (for example Pella’s published price ranges) where available.

Where we show a “typical range” that isn’t directly from a source, it’s labelled as our estimate and is based on the published averages around it.

What our numbers are, and aren’t. They’re national figures for planning and checking quotes. They don’t reflect your exact sizes, your home’s condition, local labor rates or current promotions. Always get itemized quotes.

Updates. We review prices at least once a year and when major new surveys are published. Each page shows when it was last updated. Spot an error? Tell us.
