Is my window quote fair?
Enter the quote you were given. We compare it with what other homeowners were actually quoted for the same brand and material, and with typical installed prices from our cost guides.
What makes a window quote higher
- Brand and sales model. Companies that sell in your home with a single visit price often quote more than a local installer fitting the same type of window.
- Material. Vinyl is usually cheapest; fiberglass, wood and wood-clad cost more.
- Size, shape and style. Bay, bow, picture and custom shapes cost far more than a standard double-hung.
- Full-frame vs insert. Replacing the whole frame and trim costs more than an insert into the existing frame.
- Glass. Triple-pane, laminated or special coatings add to the price.
How it works: we divide your total by the number of windows and compare it with the per-window prices readers reported for the same brand and material when there are enough of them, then with the same material in your state, then with the material nationally, then with all quotes. Quotes are anonymous and we only ever show totals across at least 5 reports. See all figures on real window quotes.
